Zaporozhye NPP to give up U.S. fuel within next few years - Rosenergoatom

ROSTOV-ON-DON. April 20 (Interfax) - The stocks of nuclear fuel produced by Westinghouse at the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP) will be sufficient for four years, with plans to fully replace it with Russian fuel, Renat Karchaa, advisor to Concern Rosenergoatom's head, told Interfax.

"Theoretically, the current stock of U.S. fuel is enough for about four years. But its replacement with Russian fuel will start much sooner. We do not need American fuel as well as their technology. We have our own. And we, by the way, are far from being the only ones who consider them the best in the world," Karchaa, commenting on the U.S. requirements to use American technologies at the Zaporozhye NPP, said.
