MOSCOW. April 20 (Interfax) -Residents in Russia's Krasnoyarsk Territory will go to the polls to elect their new governor on the unified voting day in September 2023, member of the Russian Central Election Commission (CEC) Konstantin Mazurevsky said.

"Under the current legislation, the Krasnoyarsk Territory gubernatorial election will be held on the unified voting day in September of this year," Mazurevsky said

Krasnoyarsk Governor Alexander Uss announced his resignation earlier on Thursday.

Russian President Vladimir Putin offered Russia's Deputy Minister of Finance Mikhail Kotyukov the role of acting governor of the Krasnoyarsk Territory.

Uss was appointed as acting Krasnoyarsk governor in September 2017 to take over from Viktor Tolokonsky, who had resigned.

In 2018, Uss won the gubernatorial election. Prior to that, he had led the regional parliament for 20 years.
