Ukraine conducts territorial defense drill near Belarusian border - media

MINSK. April 26 (Interfax) - Ukraine has conducted a military exercise near the border with Belarus, the Belarusian state-run television channel STV said on Wednesday.

"Simulated combat took place in the Zhitomir region several kilometers from the borders of our country. According to the Ukrainian Defense Ministry, the territorial defense forces conducted training," the TV channel said.

"Servicemen learned to handle weapons and shoot and practiced combat in an urban environment. However, the maneuvers had broader goals. During the exercise, the troops were taught to destroy enemy armored hardware, storm buildings, organize retreat and evacuate the wounded. The precise number of individuals involved in the training was not reported," it said.
