YEREVAN. April 27 (Interfax) - Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has called for a broad international presence in Nagorno-Karabakh and the Lachin corridor.
"We and the international community should take practical steps to prevent further escalation and achieve a comprehensive settlement. At the same time, a broader international presence in Nagorno-Karabakh and the Lachin corridor is becoming necessary," Pashinyan said at a government meeting on Thursday.
"Azerbaijani attempts to turn Nagorno-Karabakh into another scaffold for Armenians must be put to a stop," Pashinyan said.
"The only reliable way to do this is to deploy representatives with a broader international mandate to Nagorno-Karabakh. The urgent deployment of an international fact-finding mission to Nagorno-Karabakh and the Lachin corridor should be the first step," he said.
