BAKU. April 27 (Interfax) - Paris welcomes Baku's initiative aimed at normalizing relations with Yerevan and urges the two sides to recognize each other's territorial integrity, French Foreign Minister Catherine Colonna said.
"The only way to solve the problem is through peace talks. We would like both countries to show such a commitment. France welcomes Azerbaijan's initiative aimed at normalizing relations with Armenia. Armenia and Azerbaijan should recognize each other's territorial integrity," Colonna said at a joint press conference with Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov in Baku on Thursday.
Clashes between the two countries must be prevented, she said.
Paris will encourage peace talks via all platforms, Colonna said.
She also urged Yerevan and Baku to cease using militant rhetoric in order to achieve peace.
"All these issues should be contextualized, they cannot be addressed separately. I am hoping to hear the news about the normalization of [their] relations shortly," Colonna said.
She invited Bayramov to visit France.
