BAKU. April 27 (Interfax) - Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov has called for being realistic about the upcoming round of peace treaty negotiations with Armenia, as the process is not easy.
"Of course, we are grateful to all intermediaries, in particular, the United States, which has been actively working on this track [Armenia's return to the negotiating table] in recent weeks, for the positive steps, their role, and the results. Armenia said it was coming back to the process. Indeed, our expectations should be realistic, as this is not an easy process, however, the upcoming negotiations are an important stage and step," Bayramov said at a joint press conference with French Foreign Minister Catherine Colonna in Baku on Thursday.
Baku will be taking part in the negotiations and "is ready to do anything for the advancement of the peace process," he said.
Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said earlier on Thursday that an agreement on a meeting between the Azerbaijani and Armenian foreign ministers had been reached. "It has been agreed on a meeting [of the foreign ministers of Russia, Azerbaijan and Armenia]. The exact date will be announced later," she said.
The three foreign ministers were due to meet in Moscow on December 23, 2022, yet the meeting was called off at the last moment because of Yerevan's refusal to attend.
