MOSCOW. April 27 (Interfax) - The Russian and Turkish authorities have agreed to increase the volume of air services between the two countries, Russian President Vladimir Putin said.
"It's important to provide favorable conditions for travel between the two countries, and in this context, we've agreed to increase the volume of bilateral air services," Putin said during a ceremony for the delivery of Russian nuclear fuel to Unit 1 of the Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant, which he attended via video link on Thursday.
As reported in February, the Russian aviation authorities notified their Turkish counterparts of choosing Nevsehir Kapadokya Airport as a new destination in Turkey for flights of designated Russian airlines.
Russian airlines were previously entitled to fly from any point in Russia to the following destinations in Turkey: Ankara, Antalya, Bodrum, Dalaman, Istanbul, Izmir, Trabzon, Samsun, and Gazipasa. During the past winter schedule, they actually flew only to Istanbul and Antalya. During the upcoming summer season, they also plan flights to Bodrum, Dalaman, and Izmir.
