Russia's Kurgan declares fire emergency

KURGAN. April 27 (Interfax) - The Kurgan region governor has imposed a state of emergency in the city of Kurgan and Ketovo municipality effective from April 27, his deputy Oksana Kutashi said on Telegram on Thursday.

The region was hit by several major fires on Thursday.

Over 70 houses in the village of Logushka were affected, Olga Saburkina, a spokesperson for the regional branch of the Emergency Situations Ministry, said.

"According to the latest information, a fire in the Logushka village in the Ketovo municipal district has affected 76 structures," Saburkina said on Telegram.

The ministry dispatched a Mil Mi-8 helicopter to the scene, in all, the group consists of 186 personnel and 50 pieces of equipment.

The ministry also said that it had additionally sent an Ilyushin Il-76 aircraft.
