MINSK. April 27 (Interfax) - The Belarusian servicemen have practiced repelling mock enemy airstrikes within the ongoing combat readiness check in the country's Armed Forces, the Belarusian Defense Ministry said in a statement on Thursday.
"During the comprehensive combat readiness inspection at one of our country's training grounds, a unit practiced aspects of the ambush tactic and repulsion of a mock enemy strike by means of aerial attack," the statement said.
"The targets, designating mock enemy helicopters, were hit by the firepower of Fagot anti-tank missiles and [infantry fighting vehicle] BMP-2 cannons," it said.
The check has been underway since April 3.
"The events are comprehensive and aim to test commanders' ability to control subordinate units and sub-units when ordering them on high alert, and also the ability of military units to perform missions within set timeframes," the statement said. General supervision of the check has been vested with the State Secretariat of the country's Security Council.
The check involves moving equipment, so temporary restrictions are possible in civilian transport services, on public roads and certain areas.
