Armenian defense minister, commander of Russian peacekeepers discuss situation in Karabakh

YEREVAN. April 28 (Interfax) - Armenian Defense Minister Suren Papikyan and Commander of the Russian peacekeeping forces in Nagorno-Karabakh Alexander Lentsov discussed the operational situation within the peacekeepers' area of responsibility at a meeting in Yerevan on Friday.

"The parties discussed the situation and the existing problems around Nagorno-Karabakh and within the area of responsibility of the Russian peacekeeping contingent, as well as a number of matters aimed at improving the Russian peacekeeping mission's efficiency," the Armenian Defense Ministry said.

Papikyan called for the strict observance of all clauses of the November 9, 2020 trilateral statement by the leaders of Armenia, Russia, and Azerbaijan and mentioned the importance of efforts to the most rapid unblocking the Lachin corridor linking Nagorno-Karabakh and Armenia, it said.
