Lukashenko says he does not want war

MINSK. April 28 (Interfax) - Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko said he does not expect military operations to take place in his country.

"I don't want to fight. [...] I am always surprised when people start talking about the war. People out there in Gomel are stressed. That's right, the Gomel and Brest regions are now close to the frontline [as they border Ukraine]. But that doesn't mean that someone will bring the war to us," the presidential press service quoted Lukashenko as saying during his working visit to the Gomel region on Friday.

"There are plenty of reckless people there. There's nothing anyone can do. [...] The war is happening over there. So don't think that I want to unleash some kind of war here," he said.
