MOSCOW. April 28 (Interfax) - Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a bill into law clarifying the categories of citizens for whom the status of a veteran and disabled veteran of military operations is established, according to the official portal of legal information.
The bill extends veteran and disabled veteran status to individuals who have taken part in hostilities on the orders of the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics' authorities in the ranks of the DPR Armed Forces, the DPR militia, and DPR and LPR military units and bodies since May 11, 2014.
Individuals who signed a contract or entered into another kind of legal relationship with entities supporting the Russian Armed Forces in accomplishing their missions during the special military operation in Ukraine, the DPR and the LPR since February 24, 2022, and in the Zaporozhye and Kherson regions since September 30, 2022, will have the same status.
The Russian government will establish a procedure for issuing standardized IDs for combat veterans to these individuals, the bill said.
