MOSCOW. May 2 (Interfax) - The number of main weapons procured by the Russian Defense Ministry has practically tripled, while the number of weapon systems in high demand has grown seven times since the start of 2022, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said.
"As a result, the number of procured main weapons has grown 2.7 times since the beginning of 2022, while the number of hardware in high demand has grown seven times," Shoigu said at a teleconference on Tuesday.
"The national administration has tasked defense plants with increasing the pace and amount of production within a short time, and respective operative measures have been taken," he said.
"Actions of Russian groups of forces during the special operation largely depend on the timely replenishment of the stock of weapons, military hardware and ammunition," Shoigu said.
"The system of interagency interaction has started effective operation to coordinate the activity of every interested agency and to ensure swift resolution of problems," he said.
There is round-the-clock control over every stage of the fulfillment of state defense orders, from the signing of contracts and the allotment of funds to the delivery of ready products to forces, Shoigu said.
