MOSCOW. May 2 (Interfax) - Russia should stand firmly for its national interests amid Western attempts to divide Russian society and impose alien values on it, Russian Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev said.
"We should rigorously protect our national interests, our culture and our history, giving attention to the country's future. Traditional spiritual and moral values should be supported and strengthened in every possible way, [and] at the same time [we should] not forget to dispel Russophobic, pseudo-scientific theories that are becoming the basis for aggressive anti-Russian actions," Patrushev said in an interview with the Izvestia newspaper.
"The West is trying to undermine the internal unity of our country and our people, to demoralize our citizens, to instill in them a sense of inferiority," Patrushev said.
"The West is trying to destroy the foundations of common Russian and national identity by doing its utmost to impose new ideas that are alien to us, such as gender diversity and historical revisionism," Patrushev said.
