TALLINN. May 2 (Interfax) - Estonia will for the first time purchase loitering munitions from Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI), an Israeli state-owned company, for 100 million euros.
"Having this kind of assault capability will certainly boost Estonia's defense capabilities significantly," Defense Minister Hanno Pevkur said on Tuesday when commenting on the signing of the contract, which has become one of the country's most expensive deals.
The appearance of this new type of munition will make an important contribution to the development of Estonia's defense capabilities, he said. They will make it possible to attack the enemy from covered firing positions at a considerable distance.
Pevkur emphasized that, along with anti-ship missiles and multiple rocket launchers, Estonia will soon have a number of new capabilities for striking enemies at long range.
