Trains to run on shortened route between Oryol, Bryansk following track blast in Russia's Bryansk region - Russian Railways

MOSCOW. May 3 (Interfax) - Trains between Oryol and Bryansk will run on a shortened route until the end of repairs at a rail station in Russia's Bryansk region, the press service for Russian Railways (RZD) said on Wednesday.

A freight train was derailed in the Bryansk region on Tuesday.

"While the work is in progress, commuter trains between Oryol and Bryansk will run on a shortened route to the Karachev station, from where passengers will be taken to the Bryansk Orlovsky station by bus," RZD said on Telegram.

According to RZD, repairs are continuing on the Snezhetskaya - Belye Berega line in the Bryansk region.

"Some cars have been taken to the station. The infrastructure is being cleaned up ahead of repairs," it said.

Bryansk Governor Alexander Bogomaz reported earlier a track explosion.

"An unidentified explosive device detonated near the Snezhetskaya railway station. There were no casualties. A locomotive and several cars of a freight train were derailed due to the incident. All emergency services are working at the scene," Bogomaz said on Telegram on Tuesday.

RZD blamed "illegal interference" for the incident.

"On a non-electrified, one-track railway line between Snezhetskaya and Belye Berega in the Bryansk region, illegal interference in railway operations caused a locomotive and around 20 freight railcars to derail," the company said.

City fire teams are working on the incident scene, and a fire train and two repair trains have been sent there.

Traffic was suspended on the Snezhetskaya - Belye Berega line.
