MOSCOW. May 3 (Interfax) - Russian cosmonauts Sergei Prokopyev and Dmitry Petelin are due to conduct a spacewalk from the International Space Station (ISS) on Wednesday to move an airlock chamber from the Rassvet module to the Nauka module using the European Robotic Arm (ERA).
According to Roscosmos, the cosmonauts will open the hatch of the Poisk module at 11:05 p.m., and the spacewalk will last for six hours and 22 minutes.
The primary objective is to use the ERA for moving the airlock chamber from the Rassvet module to the Nauka module of the ISS Russian segment.
During the extravehicular activity (EVA 57), Prokopyev and Petelin will disconnect communication cables between the airlock chamber and the Rassvet module and will remove the protective cover from the retention device to the airlock chamber.
Once that is done, the cosmonauts will watch the chamber being moved by the ERA controlled by Andrei Fedyayev from the ISS. Later on, Prokopyev and Petelin will connect the cable between the chamber and the Nauka module.
The upcoming spacewalk will be Prokopyev's fifth and Petelin's third.
