LIPETSK. May 3 (Interfax) - Authorities in Russia's Lipetsk region have decided not to hold Victory Day parades on May 9.
"Dear friends, a difficult decision was adopted at today's meeting of the operative headquarters [held] with the participation of security agency chiefs. We are forced to cancel Victory Day parades in Lipetsk and Yelets on May 9," Governor Igor Artamonov wrote on Telegram.
Security agencies have information about possible provocations during public celebratory and commemorative events being held in regions on Victory Day, he said.
Celebratory events will be held in city parks, he said.
"This will help to disperse people and prevent crowds forming anywhere as much as possible," Artamonov said.
