Baltic Fleet ship conducts exercise with simulated missile launches

MOSCOW. May 3 (Interfax) - The Boiky corvette of the Russian Baltic Fleet has carried out simulated missile launches against mock enemy surface ships during a routine exercise, the Baltic Fleet press service said on Wednesday.

"The Boiky corvette successfully performed simulated missile launches at the Baltic Fleet's sea ranges in the Baltic Sea. The missiles were launched at targets simulating mock enemy surface ships using an Uran anti-ship missile system," the report said.

All designated targets were successfully hit, it said.

The final stage of the corvette's exercise involved tasks relating to ship damage control, radiation, chemical and biological defence at sea, as well as air defense in an unprotected roadstead, it said.

The Uran anti-ship cruise missile is designed to strike fast-moving surface ships during both the daytime and nighttime, in good and bad weather, under fire and amid radio-electronic countermeasures.
