U.S. to send HIMARS ammo, artillery shells, anti-tank weapons in new military aid package for Ukraine

WASHINGTON. May 4 (Interfax) - The United States will supply ammunition for HIMARS missile systems, artillery shells and anti-tank weapons as part of its next package of military assistance for Ukraine, White House spokesperson Karine Jean-Pierre said at a press briefing on Wednesday.

The new package of security assistance to Ukraine will be announced soon, she said.

"The package, which will be announced later this afternoon by departments of defense and state, will include more ammunition for US-provided HIMARS [...] as well additional howitzer, artillery, and mortar rounds and anti-armor capabilities," Jean-Pierre said.

The previous military aid package for Kiev was announced by the U.S. on April 19. The overall cost of such assistance for Ukraine had reached approximately $36 billion by then.
