Armenian, Azerbaijani FMs to finalize negotiations in U.S. on Thurs - Dept of State

YEREVAN. May 4 (Interfax) - The foreign ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan will finalize their negotiations in the United States on Thursday, the U.S. Department of State said in a statement.

"Secretary [of State Antony] Blinken participates in the bilateral peace negotiation closing session with Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan and Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov," the statement, published on the department's website, said.

The meeting will begin at 1:45 p.m. EDT (8:45 p.m. Moscow time).

The foreign ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan started negotiations in Arlington on May 1.

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said on Wednesday that he would be happy to sign a document with Azerbaijan.

"If there is an opportunity to sign a document, I would be glad," Pashinyan said during a government Q&A session in parliament. According to him, the Armenian and Azerbaijani foreign ministers are holding talks in Washington, and "there is a document on the negotiating table." "There is nothing new in this document, there is nothing that I haven't said publicly," Pashinyan said.

The head of the Armenian parliament's Standing Committee on European Integration, Arman Yeghoyan, told reporters on Tuesday that the Mirzoyan-Bayramov talks would continue for several days because of their voluminous and substantive subject matter.

The head of the Armenian parliament's Standing Committee on Foreign Relations, Sargis Khandanyan, told reporters on Wednesday that it was unlikely any document would be signed following the ministerial talks.
