MOSCOW. May 4 (Interfax) - A member of the Russian delegation at the Parliamentary Assembly of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (PABSEC) was hospitalized after being attacked, the Russian embassy in Ankara said.
"Members of the Verkhovnaya Rada of Ukraine made an attempt to disrupt a speech by the Russian delegation at the summit of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation held in Ankara on Thursday. The attempt to disrupt the speakers' session failed. Turkish Parliament Speaker Mustafa Sentop tried to stop what was happening and remove the protest's participants from the hall. After this, the speech by Olga Timofeyeva, the head of our delegation, continued," the embassy said on a Telegram channel.
Ukrainian representatives tried to carry out a provocation again during Timofeyeva's live broadcast after the event.
"A member of the Russian delegation who tried to prevent it was ultimately attacked. Our representative is now in hospital, where he is receiving the required examination. Consular assistance has been provided to him," the embassy said.
"The attention of the Turkish authorities was drawn to this outrageous situation in an appropriate manner. We hope those guilty will get the punishment they deserve," the report said.
