YEREVAN. May 4 (Interfax) - Armenia is trying to avoid violating the requirements of Western sanctions against Russia while complying with the laws of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said.
"We are a member of the EAEU along with Russia. This means that we are in a common economic zone, and our economy depends on the EAEU being a success. We must comply with EAEU laws, but on the other hand, also comply with laws on sanctions, so as not to violate them. Our relations with the EU and US are very important," Pashinyan said at the Prague Center for Transatlantic Relations on Thursday.
In 2019, Armenia launched a strategic dialogue with the U.S., and it has a comprehensive partnership agreement with the EU, he said.
"This is why we are in such a complex and sensitive situation. We are trying, and I think we have managed where we could, to be a responsible member of the international community," Pashinyan said.
