KRASNODAR. May 5 (Interfax) - Another fire has been put out at the Ilsky oil refinery in the Seversky district of Russia's Krasnodar Territory, the press service for the Russian Emergency Situations Ministry's regional branch said on Friday.
"A fire at the Ilsky refinery was reported on the morning of May 5. The fire of 60 square meters was put out at 9 a.m., before teams of the Russian Emergency Situations Ministry arrived," the press service said.
The regional operative headquarters reported the evacuation of refinery personnel.
"Refinery personnel were swiftly evacuated. There are no casualties. There is no threat of air pollution either," the headquarters said.
The fire was put out by 19 vehicles and 51 men.
The regional emergency services told Interfax that the explosion at the Ilsky refinery was caused by a drone strike.
"A drone strike at the Ilsky refinery caused an explosion at the AT-5 unit and sparked a fire at 9:10 a.m.," a representative of the emergency services said.
The district's unified dispatch service told Interfax earlier that an explosion occurred at the refinery before the fire started, and an air blowing unit was damaged.
A tank containing petroleum products caught fire at the Ilsky refinery in the early hours of May 4. There were no casualties. The fire was extinguished on Thursday morning. The emergency services told Interfax later that the fire was started by a drone attack, fragments of which were found later in the day.
The Ilsky refinery (LLC KNGK-INPZ in Krasnodar Territory) accepts, stores and refines hydrocarbons, and ships finished products by truck and rail.
