Kremlin regrets death of French journalist in Ukraine

MOSCOW. May 10 (Interfax) - It would be necessary to look into the death of a French journalist, as the Ukrainian authorities have recently barred the press from visiting areas along the contact line, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.

"I would like to remind you about a fairly recent statement by Ukrainian representatives and their decision to ban visits of any journalists to the areas near the contact line. It was a decision of the Ukrainian authorities. So, of course, it would be necessary to look into the circumstances of the death of this journalist. All we can do is express our regret," Peskov said at a press briefing on Wednesday.

He was asked to comment on statements by the Ukrainian Defense Ministry, according to which AFP journalist Arman Soldin was killed in an attack by Russian Grad multiple rocket launchers.

"Unfortunately, I do not have such information, and, of course, it is important that you should probably contact our Defense Ministry. I recommend that you do not take the word of Ukrainian representatives for it," Peskov said.
