ST. PETERSBURG. May 11 (Interfax) - Russian Investigative Committee head Alexander Bastrykin has proposed setting up an alternative international court to counterbalance the International Criminal Court (ICC) and the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR).
"We've moved to the East now, [to] China and India, so let's set up a supreme judicial body to oppose the ICC and ECHR, using our agreement-based relations on the eastern track," Bastrykin said at the St. Petersburg International Legal Forum.
The establishment of such a top judicial body "would be in line with the law, rules, and justice."
Speaking of the ICC, Bastrykin said the Russian Investigative Committee intends to declare wanted the judges who issued arrest warrants for the Russian president and children's rights commissioner.
"We then very quickly initiated a criminal case against the court's prosecutor, president, and three judges who actively influenced that decision. We will also declare them wanted soon," he said.
