Crimean resident detained for sharing info about Russian military hardware redeployment with Ukraine - FSB

MOSCOW. May 12 (Interfax) - Russia's Federal Security Service (FSB) has reported the detention of a Crimean resident on treason counts after sharing information about Russian military hardware redeployment with the Ukrainian security service.

"The Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation has detained a 34-year-old resident of the Republic of Crimea on suspicion of treason," the FSB said on Friday.

According to the FSB, the detainee "uploaded videos of the Russian Defense Ministry's hardware transported to the special military operation's zone by a military train in a chat bot of a Ukrainian Telegram channel used by Ukrainian security services for gathering intelligence."

The information was passed to the Ukrainian military and used for missile strikes, the FSB said.

"The Investigative Department of the Russian FSB opened a criminal case against the suspect under Article 275 of the Russian Criminal Code [treason by espionage]. He was taken into custody," the FSB said.

The detained resident of Crimea is facing up to life imprisonment if found guilty of treason.
