Two Tu-95MS strategic bombers perform many-hour patrol of neutral waters in Chukchi Sea - Russian Defense Ministry

MOSCOW. May 12 (Interfax) - Two Russian Tupolev Tu-95MS strategic bombers have performed a scheduled flight over neutral waters in the Chukchi Sea, the Russian Defense Ministry said on Friday.

The Chukchi Sea divides Russia's Chukotka and the United States' Alaska.

"The flight duration exceeded 13 hours. The strategic aircraft were refueled in mid-air during the flight," the ministry said.

MiG-31 and Sukhoi Su-30SM and Su-35S from the Russian Eastern Military District escorted the bombers, it said.

"All flights are performed by aircraft of the Russian Aerospace Forces in strict compliance with international airspace regulations," the ministry said.
