Russian military helicopter crashes in Crimea, two pilots dead - Defense Ministry

MOSCOW. May 12 (Interfax) - A Mil Mi-28 helicopter gunship has crashed in Crimea while on a training flight, killing both of its pilots, the Russian Defense Ministry said on Friday.

"An Mi-28 helicopter crashed while on a planned training flight in the Dzhankoi district of the Republic of Crimea at 3:42 p.m. Moscow time on May 12, 2023. The flight was conducted without ammunition. There is no damage on the ground. Both pilots were killed," the ministry said.

"Tentative findings indicate the crash may have been caused by mechanical failure," it said.
