ROSTOV-ON-DON. May 12 (Interfax) - An air defense system has been activated in western Crimea and shot down a drone on Friday, Crimea head Sergei Aksyonov said.
"In western Crimea, air defense forces have downed an enemy UAV. No casualties or damage has been reported. The situation is under control," Aksyonov wrote on Telegram.
Activation of air defense systems in Crimea and Sevastopol has been reported periodically since last August. The reaction of air defense systems in the region has for the most part been prompted by small drones.
A high ('yellow') terrorist threat level is currently in place in Crimea and Sevastopol. A medium-level response regime is also in place.
