No chance that Russia will return to CFE - Deputy FM Ryabkov

MOSCOW. May 16 (Interfax) - There is currently no chance of Russia returning to the Treaty on Conventional Armed Forces in Europe (CFE), and possible alternatives to it might be discussed after the relationship between Russia and the West is back to normal, Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said on Tuesday.

"Of course, no," Ryabkov told journalists in Moscow when asked a relevant question.

"Something could be discussed when the current storm period in our relations with the West is over, when the West abandons its hostile policy and starts exploring different conceptual approaches," Ryabkov said when asked whether any new document could be discussed now to replace the CFE.
