MOSCOW. May 16 (Interfax) - Russian citizens called up for military training from the reserve in 2023 will not be sent to the special military operation zone, State Duma Defense Committee head Andrei Kartapolov said.
"Of course, they won't end up in the special military operation zone, these are things not related to each other, planned [training camps] are arranged annually," Kartapolov said in reply to a question from Interfax on Tuesday.
The people called up for such training "will show up, train for the set time, and return to their families and workplaces," he said.
On May 10, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree to call up Russian citizens from the reserve for military training in 2023.
"Citizens of the Russian Federation who are reservists will be called up in 2023 for reservist training in the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, the troops of the National Guard of the Russian Federation, state protection bodies and agencies of the Federal Security Service," the document states.
The decree does not specify how many people would be called up for military training.
