Russia to maximize production of weaponry after finalizing CFE denouncement - Medvedev

MOSCOW. May 16 (Interfax) - After finalizing the denouncement of the Treaty on Conventional Armed Forces in Europe (CFE), Russia will ramp up the production of weapons as much as possible, Russian Security Council Deputy Chairman Dmitry Medvedev said.

"This document (CFE) lost its relevance for us back in 2007. But now even in line with the earlier suspended international obligations, nothing prevents us from stationing our weapons wherever we want to protect our national interests. Including our Russian part of Europe," Medvedev wrote on Telegram after the State Duma voted in favor of denouncing the CFE on Tuesday.

"And definitely, we will maximize the production of weapons, military and special hardware, and munitions," he said.
