Ukrainian citizen sharing info about Russian troops detained - FSB

MOSCOW. May 16 (Interfax) - The Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) has reported the detention of a Ukrainian citizen who shared information about the location and missions of Russian troops, including those operating in the Kiev region, with foreign security services.

"Operative and investigative measures taken by the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation have uncovered and put to a stop the spying by a 25-year-old female citizen of Ukraine," the FSB public relations center said.

"Acting on the orders from foreign security services, the suspect shared information about the facilities, military hardware, fortifications and positions of the Russian Armed Forces," the FSB said.

Devices seized from the detainee "contain geospatial information about the location and operations of the Russian Armed Forces' eastern group of forces that took part in the special military operation in the Kiev region of Ukraine," it said.

"The transfer of such information to representatives of a foreign country was used to the detriment of the Russian Federation's security," the FSB said.

The detainee was charged with espionage and is facing up to 20 years of imprisonment.

The suspect has been placed under arrest.

The FSB withheld the detainee's identity.
