MINSK. May 16 (Interfax) - The military service deferral has been scrapped for Belarusian citizens studying abroad by amendments to the Law on Military Duty and Military Service published on the national legal website on Tuesday.
From now on, deferrals will apply only to Belarusians studying abroad under programs of Belarusian governmental establishments.
The deferral will be granted to Belarusian citizens studying abroad full-time as of the day of the bill's entry into force who were admitted to educational establishments before they turned 18.
The new rules of annulment of military registration will also take effect. This right will now be granted only to those Belarusians who have formalized their permanent residence abroad.
