YEKATERINBURG. May 16 (Interfax) - About a dozen criminal cases on counts of sabotage have been opened in the Sverdlovsk and Tyumen regions, Alina Kazantseva, spokesperson for the Sverdlovsk branch of the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB), said on the Rossiya-1 Ural television channel on Tuesday.
"The Sverdlovsk branch of the FSB, in cooperation with the security agencies of the Ural Federal District and the FSB branch for the Ural Federal District, have neutralized the activities of eight sabotage groups whose members were planning to commit a series of terrorist attacks and acts of sabotage in the Sverdlovsk and Tyumen regions. A total of 20 people have been detained, and 13 criminal cases have been opened," Kazantseva said.
The saboteurs targeted critical infrastructure facilities, defense industry factories, and buildings belonging to the authorities and military commissariats, she said.
The press service for the FSB's Sverdlovsk branch told Interfax that the criminal cases in question were opened between 2022 and the current period.
