Transdniestria extends yellow level of terrorist alert

TIRASPOL. May 18 (Interfax) - Leader of the unrecognized Transdniestrian Moldovan Republic Vadim Krasnoselsky has signed a decree extending the yellow level of terrorist alert in the region from May 19 to July 18.

"The yellow level of terrorist alert in Transdniestria is being extended for 60 more days, through July 18, 2023," Krasnoselsky's press service said.

The decision to extend it was made due to "the remaining threat of a terror attack and the need to continue operations to prevent it."

A red level of terrorist alert was in place in Transdniestria in the period from April 26 to May 25, 2022. It was declared after the building of Transdniestria's State Security Ministry was attacked from grenade launchers and explosions occurred at a radio broadcasting center in the Maiac village in the Grigoriopol district on April 25-26. No one was hurt.

The yellow level of terrorist alert was declared in Transdniestria from May 25 to June 8, and it has been extended every 15 days. At the same time, almost all of the red-level restrictions have remained in place. In particular, thorough monitoring and guarding of all critical infrastructure in the region continues, checkpoints on the roads into and out of the region are still standing where thorough vehicle checks are carried out, forces are on high alert, and drone flights without the State Security Ministry's permission are banned.
