Residents of border areas in Russia's Kursk region refuse to temporarily move elsewhere - governor

VORONEZH. May 19 (Interfax) - Residents in the Glushkovsky and Khomutovsky districts of the Kursk region, border areas that have been attacked by the Ukrainian side since the beginning of Russia's special military operation, do not want to leave their homes, Governor Roman Starovoit said.

"Everyone is being provided assistance in repairing their homes and cars. I once again offered residents to temporarily relocate, everyone refuses at this point," the Kursk region's head wrote on Telegram on Friday after visiting the two border areas.

Starovoit also shared information about the condition of people affected by an attack of the Ukrainian army the previous day.

"I have received reports saying that people hurt during yesterday's shelling in Glushkovo have been discharged and sent home to receive outpatient treatment after surgical treatment of their wounds. Nothing is threatening their health condition," he said.

Starovoit said on Thursday that Ukrainian forces had dropped an explosive device on a sports and recreational center in the urban settlement of Glushkovo, injuring two people.
