ICC calls Russia's criminal case against its judges unjustified

BERLIN. May 22 (Interfax) - The International Criminal Court (ICC) has expressed concern about Russia's measures against prosecutor Karim Khan and judges of a pre-trial chamber.

"The International Criminal Court [...] is aware and profoundly concerned about unwarranted and unjustified coercive measures reportedly taken against ICC officials, notably the Prosecutor of the Court and the judges of pre-trial Chamber II by the authorities of the Russian Federation," the court said in a press release on Saturday.

As reported earlier, the Russian Investigative Committee opened a criminal case against judges of the International Criminal Court. The press service for the Russian Investigative Committee said that the ICC judges "gave illegal orders to arrest the Russian president and the Russian presidential children's rights commissioner." The Russian Interior Ministry put ICC prosecutor Karim Ahmad Khan on the wanted list the day before.
