MOSCOW. May 23 (Interfax) - A woman died of as yet undetermined causes during an evacuation effort in Russia's Belgorod region, the region's Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov said on Telegram.
"A woman, born in 1941, died yesterday during the evacuation [residents are currently staying at temporary shelters in Stary Oskol, the Yakovlevsky district and the Ivnya district]. [...] The cause of [her death] is being established [...]," Gladkov said.
Security forces are continuing a "mopping-up" operation in the region, the governor said.
"There are two injured civilians in the communities infiltrated by the adversary," he said.
"I advise residents of the Graivoron district who [...] have temporarily left their homes not to return to their homes for now. We will let you know immediately, and I will tell you in my social media, and the heads of local administrations will also let you know when it will be safe [to return]," Gladkov said.
"We are awaiting the conclusion of the counterterrorist operation, which was declared yesterday [...]," he said.
Gladkov said on Monday that parts of the Graivoron district had come under fire many times. Eight people were injured.
The governor said later that a Ukrainian saboteur group had infiltrated the region.
"A saboteur and reconnaissance group of the Ukrainian Armed Forces entered the territory of the Graivoron district. The Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, the Border Service, the Russian Guard and the Federal Security Service are taking necessary measures to eliminate the adversary," Gladkov said on Telegram.
