MOSCOW. May 23 (Interfax) - The Lefortovo District Court in Moscow has registered investigators' motion for extending the arrest of Evan Gershkovich, reporter of The Wall Street Journal's Moscow bureau charged with espionage, according to materials available in the court database.
The database says that the court registered the motion on Tuesday, May 23, and the hearing was also scheduled for Tuesday.
"An investigator asks to extend the arrest until August 30," the court's press service said.
Gershkovich's arrest expires on May 29. It may be extended for the current investigative period if the court upholds the motion on Tuesday.
Investigators and lawyers have been unavailable for comment to Interfax.
