BRUSSELS. May 23 (Interfax) - The European Union member states have supplied 220,000 rounds of artillery ammunition to Ukraine, High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell said on Tuesday.
"This has already been supplied to the Ukrainians," Borrell said at a press conference in Brussels following an EU Foreign Affairs Council meeting of the defense ministers.
He said this ammunition was paid for in part by the EU member states that supplied it, and in part by the common EU funds.
"At this rate, I think we can reach the goal of one million rounds of ammunition. Whatever it is, we are doing everything we can to achieve it," the EU foreign policy chief said.
At the EU summit in Brussels on March 23, the EU leaders approved a plan to supply Kiev with one million rounds of artillery ammunition over the next 12 months following that meeting.
