Russian Security Council secretary holds talks with reps of Egypt, Iraq, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Vietnam - council

MOSCOW. May 23 (Interfax) - Russian Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev has discussed bilateral cooperation with representatives of Egypt, Iraq, South Africa, Sri Lanka, and Vietnam on the sidelines of an international security meeting, the Russian Security Council's press service said.

"Russian-Egyptian interaction on the counterterrorism track was discussed in a conversation with Egyptian Presidential National Security Advisor Faiza el-Naga and Egyptian Presidential Advisor for Countering Terrorism Magdy Abdel Ghaffar," the press service said.

Patrushev discussed the situation in the Middle East at a meeting with Iraq's Chairman of the Popular Mobilization Forces, Falih Al-Fayyadh, and South Africa's chairmanship in BRICS with Minister in the Presidency of South Africa, Ms. Khumbudzo Ntshavheni, the press service said.

"The improvement of the legal framework of bilateral relations was addressed in a conversation with Sri Lankan First Deputy Defense Minister Kamal Gunaratne. The exchange of views on countering challenges and threats to the security of Russia and Vietnam involved Vietnamese Public Security Minister To Lam," it said.
