Multipolar world order, common indivisible security system must replace discriminatory development model - Putin

MOSCOW. May 24 (Interfax) - Russia is ready for the closest possible cooperation with any interested states in countering common challenges, Russian President Vladimir Putin has said, adding that the discriminatory development model, which has ensured economic growth in some countries at the expense of resources stolen from others, must disappear.

"We can see that the current international situation is characterized by growing instability. Old points of tension are expanding and new ones are emerging in various regions, the negative burden of conflicts is accumulating, and people in many countries are dealing with the dramatic consequences of coups organized from abroad," Putin said in his video address to the 11th international meeting of high-ranking security officials.

All of this is directly related to certain states and groups' aspirations to retain their dominance and insist on their rules, while completely ignoring the sovereignty, national interests and traditions of other countries, Putin said. "All of this is happening alongside the enhancement of military potential, unceremonious interference in other countries' internal affairs, and attempts to gain unilateral advantages from the energy and food crisis provoked by a number of Western states," Putin said.

"Russia believes in the existence of a real alternative to this destructive course, to the policy of blackmail and unlawful sanctions. This [alternative involves] strengthening global stability, progressively building a system of common, indivisible security, and carrying out large-scale tasks for economic, technological and social development," he said.

In the first instance, this would require the coordinated efforts of all countries and joint, thorough work on the principles of mutual respect, partnership and trust, which are the approaches proposed in Russia's updated foreign policy concept, Putin said.

"I have said before and I repeat that our country stands ready for the closest possible interaction with any interested states in countering the common challenges currently faced by mankind," he said.

Russia appreciates having a great number of allies and partners in various regions and on various continents, and sincerely values its historically strong, friendly, and genuinely trusting relations with countries in Asia, Africa and Latin America, Putin said.

"We will strengthen them in every way possible," he said.

"I have no doubt that together we will build a more just, multipolar world order. Meanwhile, the ideology of exclusiveness, just like the neo-colonial system which allowed the resources of the entire world to be exploited, will inevitably disappear," Putin said.
