West ignoring Moscow's signals about inadmissibility of direct clash between nuclear powers - Lavrov

MOSCOW. May 24 (Interfax) - Moscow has been sending signals to Western countries regarding the inadmissibility of a direct clash between nuclear powers, but these messages have gone unanswered, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said.

"NATO countries are de facto, and in practice, de jure directly participating in the conflict on Kiev's side. Such irresponsible conduct seriously heightens the threat of a military clash between nuclear powers," Lavrov said on Wednesday at an international meeting of high-ranking security officials, which is taking place in the Moscow region under the auspices of the Russian Security Council.

"We have been sending signals to Western capitals regarding the inadmissibility of such a scenario, but these signals have either been ignored or have been grossly misrepresented for propaganda purposes," he said.
