BAKU. May 24 (Interfax) - Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov has briefed Margareta Cederfelt, president of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe Parliamentary Assembly (OSCE PA), on the process of normalizing Armenian-Azerbaijani relations.
Bayramov told Cederfelt about the situation in the South Caucasus, Azerbaijan's ongoing construction and renovation projects, Azerbaijani steps towards achieving regional peace and stability (including the conclusion of a peace agreement), and the reopening of all lines of communication "despite Armenia's provocations and Yerevan's attempts to stall these processes," the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry said.
He highlighted the threat from mines in Azerbaijan, Armenia's failure to honor the trilateral statement of November 10, 2020, violence against Azerbaijani troops who were taken prisoner by Armenia in April and the failure to return them to their home country, and the refusal to provide information about missing persons, it said.
"The meeting also addressed future cooperation between Azerbaijan and the OSCE PA and key items on the agenda, including the OSCE PA's possible contribution to the process of normalizing Azerbaijani-Armenian relations," the ministry said.
Cederfelt said in turn that she had visited the Zangilan district during her trip to Azerbaijan and familiarized herself with reconstruction projects (in the freed Azerbaijani territories).
The OSCE PA attaches great significance to cooperation with Azerbaijan, Cederfelt said. She emphasized the importance of peace and security in the region, and said that the OSCE PA was promoting peace, stability and parliamentary diplomacy, and was working to maintain peace in the region.
