Russian prosecutor general visits Egypt

CAIRO. May 24 (Interfax) - A delegation of the Russian Prosecutor General's Office led by Prosecutor General Igor Krasnov has visited Cairo at the invitation of Egyptian Prosecutor General Hamada El-Sawy, the Russian Prosecutor General's Office press service said.

"Talks with the Egyptian counterpart and other officials are planned during this visit," the report said.

It is the Russian prosecutor general's first visit to Egypt in the history of cooperation between the prosecutor's offices of the two countries, the Russian Prosecutor General's Office said.

The Egyptian prosecutor general attended the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum in 2022, the Office said.

A program of cooperation between the Prosecutor General's Offices of the two countries in 2022-2024 was signed in St. Petersburg then. Roundtable discussions on countering cybercrime and illegal use of virtual currencies, as well as protection of entrepreneurs were held in Moscow and Cairo as part of its implementation. An Egyptian delegation is expected to visit Moscow to discuss issues relating to countering terrorism and extremism. Besides, expert level events and meetings between the administrations of the divisions of the Russian and Egyptian Prosecutor General's Offices are being held.
