MOSCOW. May 24 (Interfax) - Ukraine made an unsuccessful attempt to attack the Russian Black Sea Fleet's Ivan Khurs ship with three naval drones early on Wednesday morning, Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov said.
"Today at 5:30 a.m., the Ukrainian Armed Forces made an unsuccessful attempt to attack the Black Sea Fleet's Ivan Khurs ship, which is performing missions to secure the operation of the TurkStream and Blue Stream gas pipelines in the exclusive economic zone of the Republic of Turkey, with three unmanned speedboats," Konashenkov said at a press briefing.
"All of the enemy speedboats were destroyed by the Russian ship's standard weapons 140 kilometers northeast of the Bosporus Strait," he said.
"The Ivan Khurs ship of the Black Sea Fleet continues performing its assigned missions," Konashenkov said.
"Following the terrorist attack on the Nord Stream 1 and Nord Stream 2 [gas pipelines] on September 26, 2022, the Russian Armed Forces have been undertaking measures to protect such facilities," he said.
"And for good reason," the Russian Defense Ministry spokesman said.
