CAIRO. May 24 (Interfax) - Russian Prosecutor General Igor Krasnov, during a visit to Cairo, met with Egyptian Supreme Constitutional Court head Boulos Fahmy and suggested developing cooperation, including in the sphere of science on legal issues.
"You are a well-known specialist and leading scientist in the sphere of law. In this regard, it will be extremely interesting to exchange with you topical practices on issues that present mutual interest, including the protection of citizens' rights and freedoms and crime prevention," Krasnov said.
Russia has a stable judicial and investigative practice on many types of crimes such as terrorism, extremism and criminal use of virtual assets, money laundering, and illegal drug turnover, he said. "And we are ready to share it. No doubt, the experience of Egyptian law enforcement bodies is very interesting to us," he said.
"I have no doubt that there are many points of contact between our agencies, between the Supreme Constitutional Court you lead. Especially bearing in mind that Russian prosecutors, besides exercising supreme supervision over the observance of laws in the country, have broad powers in the sphere of criminal, civil, arbitration and administrative proceedings," Krasnov said.
