Russian Security Council secretary, Middle Eastern counterparts discuss security in region

MOSCOW. May 25 (Interfax) - Secretary of the Russian Security Council Nikolai Patrushev and the heads of delegations from Palestine, Syria, Oman, and Bahrain discussed the situation in the Middle East on the sidelines of the 11th international meeting of high-ranking security representatives, the press service for the Russian Security Council said.

"Nikolai Patrushev met with head of the National Security Bureau of Syria Ali Mamlouk. The parties discussed the situation in the Middle East, the development of Russia-Syria relations and the fight against terrorism," the press service told reporters on Thursday.

"Issues concerning the Middle East peace process were discussed at the meeting with head of the General Intelligence Service of Palestine Majed Faraj," it said.

Patrushev also met with Secretary General of Oman's National Security Council Idris Al Kindi to discuss security in the Persian Gulf region and the Middle East, it said.

"In addition, regional security in the Persian Gulf area was also discussed with Director of the National Security Agency of Bahrain Adel al-Fadhel," the press service said.
